WORK PACKAGES

WP1 – Project Management and Coordination: (M1 – M48) Monitoring and control to manage the implementation of the project, assess the quality of results and resolve potential issues, including IPR conflicts and scientific misconduct. Ensure that the project complies with the contract and that the technical contributions are consistent, milestones are reached, deliverables are finalized on time, and management reports are correctly submitted. Overview and encourage the interaction among WPs, encouraging collaboration across the consortium and resolving intra- and inter-WP conflicts.

WP2 – Architecture, requirements and data: (M1 – M18) Specify technical requirements of the OPTIMIST service modules and e2e service architecture in light of recent ETSI/3GPP standardization activities. Identify necessary context, mobile big data sets and features, use cases and scenarios framework for 5G mobile
video delivery using MEC. Create all necessary methodologies/tools towards the achievement of OPTIMIST RIOs, TOs, and MPOs.

  • Task 2.1: Business cases and acquisition of methodological tools.
  • Task 2.2: Technical requirements specification.
  • Task 2.3: OPTIMIST service platform architecture.

WP3 – OPTIMIST Service Orchestrator: (M11 – M40) SotA assessment, design, integration and performance assessment of the OPTIMIST service orchestrator modules (apart from the QoE control and the data analytics modules detailed in WP5). Development of the OPTIMIST version of WST SLS evaluation tool.

  • Task 3.1: SotA assessment, MEC service orchestrator design and interfacing.
  • Task 3.2: Design and implementation of the OPTIMIST service orchestrator modules.
  • Task 3.3: OPTIMIST service platform integration.

WP4 – OPTIMIST MEC Services: (M13 – M40) SotA assessment, design and performance assessment of the OPTIMIST MEC platform manager and MEC host services.Integration and implementation of an alpha-version of the MEC platform manager/hosts under third-party and 5G MNO MEC scenarios.

  • Task 4.1: SotA assessment, MEC service design and interfacing.
  • Task 4.2: Development of the MEC platform manager.
  • Task 4.3: Development of the MEC host.
  • Task 4.4: Integration of the MEC platform manager and MEC host service modules, joint performance assessments.

WP5 – QoE-driven optimization and data analysis: (M10 – M38) Devise QoE and data driven service optimization in the modules developed under WP3 and WP4. Design, implementation and integration of the QoE control and Data analytics/prediction service modules.

  • Task 5.1: SotA assessment on 5G MEC service automation and QoE optimization.
  • Task 5.2: Data-driven and model-based service automation.
  • Task 5.3: QoE-driven service automation.
  • Task 5.4: Integration and performance assessment of QoE control and Data Analysis/Prediction service modules.

WP6 – Service Platform Integration, Assessment & Prototyping: (M35 – M48) End-to-end integration of the OPTIMIST service platform entities (OPTIMIST orchestrator, MEC platform manager, MEC hosts), verification, debugging and integration of the developed OPTIMIST software, joint performance assessment under both third-party and 5G MNO MEC service provider scenarios, validation of the target MPO1-MPO5, documentation of the OPTIMIST service platform.

  • Task 6.1: System integration and testing .
  • Task 6.2: Platform assessment based on real-life use cases and refinements.

WP7 – Dissemination, Standardisation, and Exploitation: (M1- M48) Disseminate scientific results, communicate the project to the general audience, contribute to related standards and 5G consortia, collaborate with other EU projects, define strategies to ensure visibility into standardization groups and enable exploitation of new solutions.

  • Task 7.1 Business model, market opportunities, and exploitation plan.
  • Task 7.2 Dissemination activities.
  • Task 7.3 Standardization.
  • Task 7.4 Communication and public engagement.
